miracast dongle HDMI TV Stick with WiFi Wireless Receiver
I like this miracast dongle unit. Once I figured out how to connect it worked great. Instructions/online tutorial are horrible at best. Very frustrating not having clear instructions.
Here are the steps that I took to get the miracast dongle to work:
FIRST: Connect the dongle to HDMi port on your TV and power it up using the cord provided. USB cord that comes with the dongle is very short, luckily my TV has USB port right next to HDMI port that I could plug it in to.
SECOND: Turn on the TV select the HDMI port input that you plugged the unit/dongle into (my TV has 3 HDMI input ports) and you should see the dongle SSID and password on top of your TV screen. There are 2 screens that may pop up. Mine was defaulted to the setup screen that shows QR code and setup IP address 192.168.203.1. If you don’t see this screen unplug the dongle and press the tiny button on the dongle and plug it back in. It is very difficult to see this button, but it is there. Believe it or not this was one of the chanllenges I had (to locate this button).
THIRD: Go to your device (phone, tablet, etc.) wifi setings and connect to the dongle SSID (Mine is named “AnyCast ###”). Password is displayed on top of your TV screen.
step 1) Open up web browser on your phone/tablet and go to the set up address for the unit that is displayed on your TV screen (mine is 192.168.203.1), or scan the QR code which will take you to the setup page. On the setup page there are 5 options. 1st is to connect the dongle to your home network. This is very important step so you can keep connected to the internet when you’re wifi is connected to the unit SSID. Select that and connect the dongle/AnyCast device to your home network. On that page you can change the language and the password to AirCast device.
step 2) Fourth option on the setup page is to choose default mode Aircast or Miracast. I selected Miracast.
step 3) Fifth option is to select resolution. I left it at default setting. Sixth option is to select and update software/firmware for the unit, which you should do.
FIFTH: Unplug the dongle from TV and press the small button on the unit. It took me considerable amount of time to figure this VERY IMPORTANT step. Plus the button is extremely difficult to find on the dongle, but it is there. When you plug the unit back in your TV screen will look slightly different. Now you are almost ready to cast.
SIXTH: On your phone/tablet select cast/mirror screen option. For instance my Samsung phone when I scroll down from the top “quick settings panel” has a button for ‘screen mirroring’. Select that and it should find “AnyCast ###”. Now you should see your phone/tablet on your TV screen.
No Apps to download, just cast away your screen! Once I figured out how to get it to work I prefer this unit over Chromecast. I was able to cast my phone, tablet, and laptop screens without any problems.
Hope this takes away your frustration that I had to go through trying to get it to work.
ps: I found out that when you change the casting device I have to unplug the dongle from TV and press the small button to swith back to set up screen. Then go to my wifi connection (on new device ie: laptop), connect my new casting device to dongle SSID “AnyCast ###”, unplug the dongle from TV, press the small button on the dongle to switch to cast screen, plug the dongle back in to the TV.
